What is
Golden Day
Productions?

A Message from the Producer

I decided to create Golden Day Productions as a way to create opportunities to develop projects that I felt strongly about. As a working actor, there is often a sense that your fate is out if your hands. Your concern is always 'Can I get the role? Can I even get the audition?' Rarely do you have the luxury to ask 'Am I passionate about this play or film and the role I have been offered?' By taking on the role of producer, I can turn the equation around and put myself in the driver's seat.

It began back in the summer of 2004, when I placed an ad in the Dramatist Magazine, the monthly publication for professional playwrights, requesting scripts for a future New York production. I received over 60 scripts, any one of which could have made a fascinating production. But one in particular really caught my attention, and soon, the idea of producing a play started to become a reality.

My personal goal as an actor has always been to bring to life meaningful characters in meaningful productions, to work with incredibly creative, talented people who have similar goals, and to share what I do with eager audiences.

Golden Day Productions really sets out to do the same thing from a producer's point of view. It's hard to get too specific about the kind of plays I would like to produce in the future - I never could have predicted that I would be producing "These People" - a play about fraud in affluent suburbia. But, I will be looking for compelling stories that really move me - that is really the only way that I can judge a play; compelling stories that might not otherwise make it to the stage.

My acting work has kept me quite busy over the past few years (see BruceSabath.com for more on that), but I look forward to my next producing venture. Stay tuned...
